Sophia Glover, Director of University Communications and official media spokesperson from Albany State University discussed the college's plans to build a performing arts center named after Albany native Ray Charles. She also addressed the allegations (made by a manager of the estate of Ray Charles) that ASU misspent Mr. Charles' donation for the project. After presenting us with the newspaper articles covering the initial donations, it is clear that those allegations are false.

Greg Edwards is the Chief Assistant District Attorney for Dougherty County. He is a member of the Albany Chapter of the 100 Black Men of America. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Albany Dougherty Community Partnership for Education, Albany ARC, and the American Heart Association. Mr. Edwards is the immediate past president of the C.B. King Bar Association, a member of the Georgia Alliance of African American Attorneys, the Lawyer's Foundation of Georgia, and he has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Legal Services Program. Ed Rynders represents District 152 in the Georgia State House of Representatives. He's no stranger to WALG as one of the former hosts of "The Front Page" which aired on this very radio station until 1998. Ed joined us on the air to talk about Gerogia politics and to (hopefully) legitimize "Wake Up Albany" somehow. Matt Patrick will let you know how that plan worked out once the ratings are released.
